White Willow Bark Extract is a natural active ingredient derived from the bark of the white willow tree (Salix alba), belonging to the Salicaceae family. Its core active component is salicin, typically standardized to 15%-25% content, which can be metabolized in the body to salicylic acid, producing pharmacological effects similar to aspirin.
White willow bark has been used for over two thousand years in European and American traditional medicine to relieve pain and fever, with its usage documented by the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates. The modern extract is a yellowish-brown powder that retains various synergistic flavonoids and polyphenols, making it a classic plant-derived anti-inflammatory and analgesic raw material.
